After a prolonged shutdown since January 13th due to ongoing farmer protests, internet services have been reinstated in seven districts of Haryana. Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Jind, and Hisar have regained connectivity as of recent days. The decision to restore internet services comes amidst a relative calm in the farmer movement, which has centered around the Haryana-Punjab border, with farmers pushing to continue their journey to Delhi.
The movement, marked by clashes between farmers and security forces, resulted in two fatalities, including the deaths of two policemen in Ambala during the "Delhi Chalo March." Over 30 policemen sustained injuries in the confrontations, with one experiencing a brain hemorrhage. Authorities attribute the escalation to efforts by farmers to breach police blockades at the Shambhu border, alongside the dissemination of inflammatory content on social media platforms. Despite tensions, the Haryana government's decision reflects a shift towards restoring normalcy amidst ongoing protests.
